Swansea Sangha (Community) is for those who have an interest in the ethical principles and precepts of the Buddhas Teachings.
What is Buddhism?
For over 2500 years the teachings of the Buddha (Dharma) have provided some of the most rational and balanced methods on how to develop a still unattached way of life based on sound ethics, compassion, reinforced through
the concentration training in the west we know as mindfulness or meditation.
Through practice we hope to live for the benefit of others, being considerate and 'mindful' to our behaviour and actions, aware that personal actions have consequences in the here and now (kamma).
Often referred to as a religion, Buddhism has no god, no creator, beginning or end. Indeed the Dharma teaches us that to attach and craves answers to such questions actively prevents us from living in the present moment. As such, the Buddhadharma is more a psychological and ethical philosophy, free from the dogma of rules. and restrictions imposed by unseen divinities.
